Chiswick Coffee Break ep 14 with Jeannie Shapiro
Welcome to the Chiswick Coffee Break ep 14. My guest today is me! I’ve turned the tables and today I am being interviewed by my colleague and friend Sarah Dosanjh, the Binge Eating Therapist, a psychotherapist and author of the book I Can’t Stop Eating.
A little bit about me, Jeannie Shapiro. I am an Anglo-American with 25+ years experience in the travel and tourism industry. My early travel career was in New York and then took a temporary placement in London in the hotel trade and got the UK bug. I moved to London permanently in 1987 to work for a student travel specialist progressing from GM to Marketing Director to MD responsible for a turnover of £40m+.
Being in the travel and tourism industry gave me the love of travel and an opportunity to see the World including Asia, Africa, Australasia, South America and of course Europe and North America. I stopped counting flights after hitting 400 (not easy for someone ‘unhappy’ flying).
I eventually left travel (9-11 a turning point) and used my marketing skills to set up my own Consultancy. Clients ranged from law, food (loved working with a chocolate maker), garden designer, hotels, shopping centres and of course travel and tourism. I was an early adaptor of social media and was in at the beginning of Twitter.
I now concentrate my time as a Marketing Consultant working mostly with SMEs in the West London area. I am also an HMO landlord, SSAS Pension Trustee, run the Chiswick Business Network with over 900 members, an event organiser and I love living in Chiswick (for over 30 years). Describing myself, I think I would call myself an ‘networker extraordinaire’.
So go grab a coffee and listen to my latest podcast and hope you enjoy and get to know me better.
I hope you’ve enjoyed this episode of my Chiswick Coffee Break Series. If you want to discuss any social media questions you may have, do get in touch.
